Some people like painting their walls themselves while others prefer to hire a professional. Regardless of what you choose to do, there are specific tips that will that both professionals and amateurs need to know in order to paint the room neatly, correctly, and without flaws. Step One: Clean the Walls
Before you start painting you need to make sure that you thoroughly clean the walls with water and a bit of dishwashing detergent. Make sure that you use a cellulose sponge in order to clean them. You can then rinse the walls with water to get rid of the soap residue.

Step Two: Taping
The next step requires you have to tape the trim, doorframes, and windows. You will need to use blue painter’s tape which you can apply to these areas up to a week beforehand. After you finish painting you will need to remove the tape before it has a chance to dry so you don’t take off any paint with the tape.

Step Three:  Prime the Walls
There is a myth that states that you do not have to prime the walls if it has been painted multiple times. This is not true. The primer helps to helps to brighten the coverage and sheen and makes the final coat look a whole lot better.

Step Four: Use your Brush
After you use the roller you will need to use the paint brush around the trim and into the corners on the wall with an angled brush. You will then need to make sure that it is extended 2-3 inches away from the doors, windows, and moldings.

Step Five: The W Technique
In order to be efficient you should start in the corner of our wall and roll a W pattern then you can fill it without lifting the roller from the wall. You can do this to the entire wall.

Step Six: Paint the Trim
After everything has dried you can then paint the trim with a small paint brush.
